Description
The Masseria State Natural Reserve occupies an area of about 82 hectares within the wetland of the Trinitapoli salt pan, extending about 4,000 hectares in the area that once was of the Salapia lagoon, the largest in Puglia and the second in Italy after the Valleys of Comacchio; the protected area constitutes an important resting and wintering place for many species of migratory birds (including the pink flamingo), in particular anseriform and caradriform.
